Borderlands Fun Meter

BorderlandsfunThere is a lot of hype going around on how much fun people are having playing Gearbox's new title Borderlands. Don't get me wrong, I too have had a blast playing this game but not the entire time I was playing. This is when I thought to create this line graph (yay line graphs!) to depict exactly when I felt as though I was enjoying the game the most.

If you've played the game before and have made your way up to at least level 45, you should know exactly where I am coming from with this graph. The game takes a steep dive when you finally realize the content is gone, the story line was left unfulfilled and you begin playing the same missions all over again. Diable 2 had a similar style where you would just complete the game in a harder mode but it didn't feel the same. It felt more like a chore and I couldn't bring myself to completing my character.

In my opinion, to improve the quality of the game I think the level cap probably should have been opened a little higher (say 80?) and the skill trees redone with more options and better choices. I don't think the skill trees as they stand now are incentive enough to keep on grinding through the levels for a second time. I am open to the suggestion that it may have just been the class I decided to play (Siren) but grinding from 44-45 to add X% critical damage was just.. yawn. I didn't feel rewarded enough.

Those are my two cents. Remember, I still had a blast with the game hammering through the storyline with 3 other friends but it just didn't last more than about a week.
