Download.exe is a valuable command utility that you can use to download any file or number of files by having the download location. This is really handy if you'd like to setup a script that will download all the files from an ftp server straight to a desired location via a quick batch operation. It's certainly useful to have in your toolbox just in case you need it. I imagine a good use for this would be for synchronizing environments, media, or perhaps creating a download script that puts all your useful utilities in to the windows path of a new machine ready for use.

To change the registered information follow the below steps:

Open Regedit

Navigate to the key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

Find the keys "Registered Owner" and "Registered Organization"

Change the values to anything you like.

To access the system information where this information appears:
On Win XP - Hold the "Windows Key" and hit Pause/Break (Handy Hotkey)

If you followed my quick tip to disable UAC in Vista from yesterday, you may have noticed that the security center warns you that UAC is disabled. It also continuously reminds you that it's disabled until you turn it back on. Since we obviously have no intentions of turning it back on, here's how to disable that annoying little pop-up:

There are two ways of disabling these pop-up alerts. The first method and my preferred one is through the registry which is what I will show you first. The second way is through using the less impressive GUI.

Through the Registry:

Open Regedit

Navigate to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Security Center\(SID)-1000\

Find the DWORD "EnableNotifications", if it is not present, create it.

Set the value to 0.

Note: You may also notice another DWORD in that same key which is "EnableNotificationsRef". This value keeps track of how many times you change your security options. It increments the value by 1 every time you change the setting.

Through the GUI:

Open the Control Panel

Open the Security Center

On the left column you will see "Change the way Security Center alerts me", Click that.

Choose the appropriate option.

You are now annoyance free (for now).

Personally, one of my favorite applications. Enso is a lightweight launcher app that indexes your PC for application names. You can access Enso with a single key press and issue it commands. Some very useful commands that come with it are "Google", "Define", and "Open". For example, anything typed after the "Google" command will automatically open your default browser and issue a search query into google with your text input. Enso indexes everything so hardly any configuration is needed at all - maybe just a few preference changes.
